Everyone has a writing process. Some of us write straight from the hip – drawing, really, from a well of experiences and time honored practices. Others take their time, planning, outlining, writing and rewriting until the perfect sentence, paragraph or text emerges from a hurricane of ideas. Even some would-be-writers get snagged in their own process, always starting, but never really producing anything worth reading.
We might do it differently, but we all have a process.
How do you do it?

These are great examples of others who might have the share the same struggles as we do. When I watched the videos and read the posts I felt inspired to strive harder to become a better writer. “I can do all things through Crist who strengthens me.” Phillipians 4:13

I’m glad the video inspired you to develop your writing skills. We’ll work on that.

I don’t really know my writing style, I don’t think I’m one of the “hipshooters”, and i don’t think im one of the planner types either. In the high school i went to they didn’t exactly grade our papers, it was more like a favortism thing. English has always been my strong suit i would say, but i know that a lot of them wern’t A+ worthy. I just sort of write until it looks good, or good enough. I don’t really know my writing style, but i hope i figure it out in time to pass this course this semester.

It might take you a minute to fully develop and appreciate your writing style, but you can certainly come to understand and appreciate the writing process. (Check out the first sentence in your comment. Recognize the rhythm? The parallel structure?)

I pretty much just write straight off the hip with only a little bit of planning. Ive found that if I try to plan then I dont write as well.

Have you ever returned to something that you have written and said,”I’d do that a little differently”? Try revisiting something you’ve written before. You might be surprised.

When I start writing i just go with my ideas, I pick a topic then I start writing whatever comes into my head. After i write down what I think, I go back and revise it.

Freewriting! It’s free. Then, we put in the work and revise. That’s part of the process.

I guess i would say i am a writer from “the hip”. I just write down whatever comes to my mind, wether it be good or bad.

Really? Imagine how much more effective your writing would be if you focused on the “good.”
